Truth, Honor, Originality and Realism are the prinicples held by the organizers of a special night of hip hop for the community. We are honored to announce the Penn Museum & IIourshow/THORTakeover, LLC event partnership for the Imagine Africa Community night and exhibit March 28, 2012 at University of Pennsylvania Penn Museum. Artists from THORTakeover's Rebel Coalition-godHead The General, Magnum O, Darian The Great, The KNomadz and other artists such as Afloe and Urban Shaman will showcase the art the lyricism. Artists from the diaspora (African American, Latino, Caribbean) present a modern day form of ancient storytelling through hip hop culture. Check out the "Imagine Africa" exhibit and also tour ancient egypt while you witness this new age cultural expression of storytelling by MCs. We have invited I.Be 4ever, host of the The Phily Gathering (longest running hip hop event in Philly) to host the event. Music will be provided by DJ Soul Buck.
On 1/09/12 these same artists were invited to the museum for day with the press, a tour of the museum and forum. NBC 10, WHYY and more local press were there to interview the artists performing 3/28/12. Check out the photos in the gallery below by Sabina Diaz

"Hip Hop Artists Imagine Africa with the Penn Museum
How do you imagine Africa—and how do the art and artifacts in the Penn Museum’s African collection speak to you? In January, six local Hip Hop artists visit the Imagine Africa with the Penn Museum gallery project, invited to be inspired by the collection and answer that question for themselves—with original verses.
Then, on March 28, they share their personal responses with the community! Join local Hip Hop artists godHead The General, Magnum O, Darian The Great, KNomadz, Afloe, and Urban Shaman, along with DJ Soul Buck and Host I-Be 4ever, as they showcase their original songs inspired by the Imagine Africa gallery project and the African collection at the Penn Museum. Guests receive a free Imagine Africa compilation CD, created just for the night, while supplies last! This Imagine Africa free community night is co-sponsored by the Monday night indie and classic hip hop radio show the IIourshow/THORTakeover, LLC on WNJC 1360AM. Free admission!- Penn Museum Public Relations"
