THORTakeOver Records has been producing events since 2006 before we became a label. From the legendary ciphers/producer showcase and MC featuers at Medusa Lounge in Philly, Mic Check THORsday at Liquid Charm, Verbal Revolution in Philly (The Underground) and NYC (The Knitting Factory, Nuyorican Poets Cafe). Now based in NYC in and Philly, you can  catch us throwing events in both cities and more soon.


Mic Check THORsday is back! Previously held at Liquid Charm downtown Philly, THORTakeover & The IIourShow radio will bring the event to The Khyber (2nd and Chestnut St.)

Here's a rundown of the event

Cypher:

This monthly event is home to emcees who come to cipher with some of the illest freestyle spitters who respect the artform of freestyling off the top of the head.

Producer Showcase:

We also have a producer showcase, where the cypher is backed with beats from the feature producer booked that night.

Open Mic Competition:

There will be an Open Mic competition based on style. Cash prize.

Feature Performers:

There is a performance segment featuring 4 acts. The series is not limited just to hip hop. We also welcome soulful vocalists.  THORsday generally presents local acts, and at least one out of state act to perform as well.Performance set lengths are 15 minutes. Selected artists must bring their cd to perform. In house sound equipment/engineer are provided.
